Reiner
Finkeldey and Hans Heinrich Hattemer
have written an excellent textbook on
tropical forest genetics. The 315 pages
covers a wide range of topics from general
population genetics and reproduction
of trees to domestication and conservation
of forest genetic resources. Most examples
are from tropical Asia. Unfortunately
the book is expensive.

| Since
1 December 2006, IPGRI has operated
under the name ”Bioversity International”,
Bioversity for short. This new name
echoes their new strategy, which focuses
on improving people’s lives through
biodiversity research, but does not
change Bioversity’s role in APFORGEN
secretariat.
